AEV's Front Control Arm Drop Brackets pack a lot of suspension performance improvements into a small and affordable package. These drop brackets will improve front impact ride quality (expansion joints, ledges), increase anti-dive for improved braking performance, decrease the operating angle range of the front driveshaft, and eliminate the need for adjustable control arms or cam bolts for caster correction. AEV Front Control Arm Drop Brackets are included in all AEV 3.5"/4.5" DualSport suspensions, but can also be added to AEV's 2.5" DualSport suspension as well as other manufacturer's suspensions. See Tech Specs for more details.

Key Benefits:

  • - Improve front impact ride quality (expansion joints, ledges) – By reducing the operating angle of the front control arms, the suspension is allowed to work in a more natural state. This means that when hitting a bump, the force applied to the control arms is directed up into the springs instead of back directly into the frame. In effect an AEV 3.5" lifted JK "thinks" its lifted only 1.25".
  • - Change the instant center to increase Anti-Dive for improved braking performance - By increasing the anti-dive geometry of the suspension, you'll notice the front of the vehicle will barely drop under hard braking when the control arm brackets are used. By increasing force on the front wheels, traction is increased for better straight line braking and by reducing the shifting weight and inertia under braking in curves, handling is greatly improved.
  • - Decrease the operating angle range of the front driveshaft – This one is often overlooked. Aftermarket double cardan joints do not have the torque rating (1850lb/ft for t a 1310 double cardan, 2150 lb/ft for the OE CV Joint) and they can’t run as smoothly so its advantageous for most JK use to keep the stock CV units. The Front Control Arm Brackets rotate the pinion up as the axle drops to eliminate torn boots on the CV for long life with a lifted application.
  • - Eliminate the need for adjustable control arms or cam bolts for caster correction - We've been touting the benefits of using the stock control arms for a long time because of the pre-loaded rubber OE Bushings that the factory uses, and because that quality has yet to be rivaled in any aftermarket bushing. These new brackets allow for the proper caster ranges to be achieved.

Please note: Adjustable Control Arms are not a replacement for drop brackets - Its often misunderstood that higher priced adjustable control arms have the same effect as AEV's control arm brackets and that the brackets are just a cheaper option than providing adjustable control arms. Nothing could be farther from the truth, both components do separate and different things and both have their place under a Jeep. Both products can adjust the castor angle which is where much of the confusion stems from.

AEV's drop brackets change four distinct parameters:

  1. - Lowers arm angle for ride quality.
  2. - Lowers the instant center for better braking (antidive).
  3. - Decreases operating angle of the driveshaft by reducing the range of travel.
  4. - Corrects caster angles.

Adjustable control arms can certainly allow the proper caster angle to be dialed in, however they are incapable of all the other parameter changes, and in fact make the instant center, ride quality and driveshaft angles all worse than stock. Adjustable control arms can do some things that the drop brackets can not:

  1. - Move the axle position forward or aft which may be required with aftermarket HD axles.
  2. - Change the pinion angles for aftermarket Cardan or Double Cardan driveshafts.
  3. - Correct minor deviations in suspension geometry after an accident with mild frame damage.

Manufacturing Process: Fabricated steel

Material: 3/16" steel

Coatings: Black Powdercoat

Application: 2007+ JK Wrangler

Made In: United States

Note: Must be used on suspensions with 2.5"-5.0" of lift. Minimum of 2.0" jounce spacing is required. AEV cannot guarantee compatibility with all manufacturer's suspensions.

If you are installing this kit to a previously installed suspension system that utilized cam bolts, you’ll want to order the cam bolt eliminator kit (click the checkbox above) P/N AEV99064AA (M14 bolt, nut, and two thick washers). You can tack weld the washers to add more support.

Note: If your measurement is less than 5 1/2 inches we do not recommend these brackets

1) If your measurement is greater than 9 inches adjustable control arms may be required to achieve proper caster angle.

2) If your measurement is 5 1/2 to 6 1/2 inches you'll install the upper control arm in the upper hole location (2.5") as illustrated on page 4 of the install sheet.

3) If your measurement is 7-8 inches you'll install the upper control arm in the middle hole location (3.5") as illustrated on page 4 of the install sheet.

4) If your measurement is from 8 to 9 inches you'll install the upper control arm in the lower hole location (4.5") as illustrated on page 4 of the install sheet.

Does what it claims

Installed on my 3.5 lift and this solved my caster issues as well as the wandering. I ended up in the 4.5 lower hole as my lift was higher than thought due to it being a 2 door. Highly recommend for any daily driver.

Best $99 spent on lifted 13 JK and JKU

Review by Tex

We have 3" suspension lifts (springs + adjustable track bars, stock control arms) and 35s on 2013 JK Sport and 2013 JKU Rubicon. Both lift kits are different brands and not AEV. Both have dramatically improved steering control and more comfortable handling with having the brackets installed. I was surprised at just how much difference it made. FYI - The right hand upper control arm bolt is a knuckle-buster. The instructions mention; "some models require prying the exhaust out of the way to remove the bolt". After much wasted time, I pried the BOLT in the direction it needed to go, then used vise grips to turn the bolt forcing the bolt's threads to engage the edge of the frame mount and it backed all the way across the exhaust hanger easily. All in all, this project was well worth it to make 2 daily drivers much more comfortable and safe. 5 Stars to AEV Engineers!!!!!

Great product!

This product lives up to AEV's description. After a quick and easy install my JK (3.5" lift and 35s) rides like it did before the lift. The rough ride, vibrations, and wandering are gone and I am a very happy customer.

Good purchase

Review by JR

Had major death wobble on my 08JKU 2.5" 35s on stocks w/1.5" spidertrax. These work great and I felt like it tightened up the steering, fought back against DW and gave a smoother ride. Didn't solve DW 100% tho, more like 85%. I feel like an alignment and wider wheels and maybe a trackbar will bring me to 100%, but DAMN GOOD purchase for the money.

I have a 3.25 lift and the handling was terrible until I put these brackets on. Easy install and they work great and for the price compared to adjustable control arms you cant beat these. And it fixed my death wobble and as for loss of ground clearance its not that much.

Significantly Improved Handling

Review by JKJenn

I installed these brackets after installing the AEV 2.5" Dualsport Suspension Lift. The improved handling was immediately noticeable. The steering is tighter and it is a must have if your Jeep is also your DD. The JK now handles more like a mini-van than a truck from a steering perspective. The increased control also decreases fatigue on long drives.

A good product

Review by Ray

I just installed your brackets that relocate the front upper and lower control arms to the stock position. I put a lift on my jeep more than two years ago and since the steering has gone from uncontrolable to manageable. The steering was very loose and required constant attention on the highway. The brackets have tightened the steering considerably and it stays pointed in one direction. I almost didn't install the brackets because I will loose some ground clerance. Now that they are installed the added safety means more than the lost clearance.I wish I had done this two years ago. The money I have spent on alignments and other fixes is several times the cost of the brackets. Thanks, RB
