JK 3.5"/4.5" DualSport Suspension - SC

AEV’s DualSport Suspension Systems have taken off-road suspension engineering to the next level. At AEV, suspension development is about more than just adding lift height, articulation, or flashy-looking components. It’s about bringing OE-level suspension engineering to the aftermarket to create a true do-anything “dualsport” suspension – one that is both extremely capable off-road, while offering unparalleled on-road performance and handling.

To achieve this, AEV relied on factory engineering methodology. We started with the JK’s control-arms, track-arms and steering. The geometry of each component was optimized to accommodate the new lifted posture of the JK. It may surprise people to learn that proper geometry is where AEV’s Dualsport Suspensions get much of their tremendous cornering and braking characteristics. The fact is, when the geometry is right, the springs and shocks don’t have to compensate for poor performance in these areas.

Once the geometry was correct, we turned our attention to the springs, again relying on OE methods, which in the case of springs means frequency tuning.  Frequency-tuned coil springs share harmonious oscillation characteristics that allow them to work as a matched set, front and rear.  The benefit is that they help to keep the JK balanced and in contact with the road, even when driven at high speed over rough surfaces.
After the springs were tuned, the next step is shock tuning. Rather than use an off-the-shelf shock tune, we partner with the engineers at Bilstein to develop a proprietary tune matched to our unique suspension. Together we spent days at a proving grounds facility testing numerous valving combinations in an array of simulated driving conditions. Thanks to the previous optimization of AEV’s geometry and coil springs, it allows us to tune the shocks with a focus on damping suspension movement – rather than on trying to mask unwanted handling problems resulting from poor geometry or spring tuning.

Overall, no matter which Dualsport Suspension System you choose, no matter where you drive it or how you load it, you can count on your Dualsport-equipped JK to remain comfortable, balanced and ready to explore.

Key Features:

  • Expedition-Ready / Daily-Driven Practical. More so than any of its predecessors, the JK Wrangler is not just a trail-mastering off-road specialist, it's a truly "street able" on-road transport too. The AEV DualSport enhances the JK to raise its performance in both arenas.
  • Tuned Vehicle Dynamics. The DualSport system has been thoroughly tuned for impeccable behavior in every situation you might put it in - and especially the ones you didn't intend to.
  • Complete. AEV DualSport JK systems are truly stand-alone packages that include everything needed to elevate your JK properly, including shocks.

Please note: The AEV/Bilstein 5100 series shock absorbers included in this kit feature a Bilstein Triple C zinc plated finish. This finish must be serviced regularly in order to maintain its luster. Particularly in moist climates, a protective coating, such as wax or lubricating oil should be applied to prevent tarnishing. The finish is not covered under warranty.

Actual lift height may vary depending on vehicle weight.

I am a genius!

Review by Scott A

I feel like a genius ever since I rolled my 2014 Rubicon out of the shop on it's AEV DualSport SC 4.5" suspension! This upgrade has been fantastic. I drove JK's with the other guys kits and that research kept taking me back to AEV. My Jeep drives and handles better than stock. Almost no body roll. Absolutely NO drift, NO wander, NO wobble! Offroad performance is excellent. Articulation and traction when and where you need it. After 14,000 miles in just 5 months tire wear is even and everything still feels tight and right. This Jeep was not built to be my daily driver but that's exactly what it has become. AEV products are fantastic. Buy them, install them and use the hell out of them! You'll be glad you did.

Delivers performance as advertised

I installed this suspension system on a 2013 JKUR because I got myself stuck center high in a technical trail in the woods my 1st time out. Since the installation I can now easily take on far more challenging obstacles almost effortlessly. The on road performance is equally as impressive. There is very little dive while braking, steering is very stable, precise, and responsive. She stays flat through high speed turns and the overall ride is firmer but smoother than stock. If you need an outstanding off-road machine with equally excellent on-road handling you won't be disappointed with the JK Dual Sport SC Suspension.

aev is the bomb

Had a sky jacker lift on my 09 JK was not pleased with lift. A buddy just had put the AEV lift on and said it was the best lift he has had yet. So I bought one put it on and WOW the ride you cant beat. And not to mention now I can drive with one hand and don't have to worry about just keeping it between the lines. Hats off to you at AEV you know your stuff

Rides better than stock

Review by Al

Just finished installing this kit on my '12 JKU Rubi last weekend. The instructions that I printed off on the wbsite and the ones that arrived in the box differed slightly, but both were useful during the install. As the title line indicates I think the overall ride quality is better than stock - albeit a little more body roll when cornering, but I think it would be quite impossible to keep that at stock conditions with lift and 35" tires. The only comments I have for possible improvements (as I see it) would be to go with a front shock that included a hex or keyed back-up nut below the rubber isolators to use for tightening the shock bolts. The Bilsteins have a hex- key inset in the top of the shock mounting bolt, which I found to be all but impossible to get at without accessing from the top, which means removing or working around some engine compartment items. Also, I would sure feel alot more comfortable with a castle nut and cotter pin set-up on the new drag link to steering arm connection. Two very minor points I know. Great kit - Rig looks great rolling on the black pintlers and will be even better once I get the front AEV bumper installed. Thanks AEV!!

Great looking and performing

Review by Steve

I purchased this lift a few weeks ago and installed it a day after it arrived. The install took about 9.5 hours. I did it with standard floor jacks on the frame of my 09' JK. I started with the rear that only took about 2 hours. But the front was a lot more difficult. The directions were not too great but we got through it and I'm so glad I made the choice on this AEV lift. I've been looking at different lifts for months but something about the AEV lift convinced me to purchase. The price for what you get is the best on the market. This is a great lift. Definitely worth the money and worth the time to install yourself.

Awesome lift kit

I recently purchased this setup for my 2009 JK Sahara. All I can say is WOW!! this kit rides so good on the road and tackles offroad trails with ease. I would def. run this setup again when I get another JK. Thanks again for building great products for the JK.

JK DualSport SC Susension 3.5

Review by Jon Tanny

I have purchased a 2013 Jeep Wrangler and installed an AEV lift, also have a JK 2011 with a pro comp lift. This is staggering, the AEV rides perfectly, osculates excellent, and performs like a pro, my 2011 pro comp Rides too ruff, doesn't osculate well and the shocks keep moving out of center, making an annoying rattle, going to change out the pro comp , Thanks AEV!!!!

Awesome Setup

Review by Dave

I have a 2012 JK 2 door Rubicon. In February of this year I had installed the 3.5" SC suspension, along with JK Pintler Nonbead wheels in Silver, AEV rear bumper, AEV gas caddy, AEV rear differential skid plate, and the AEV LED 3rd brake light. I am running 35 inch BF Goodrich M/T tires. The Jeep looks awesome. Hardly a day goes by that someone doesn't stop and compliment me on the Jeep. Besides the awesome look what I am excited about is the performance both on road and off road. The on road ride is as good as, if not better, than stock. I drive a lot of curvy mountain roads and it will take 45 mph curves at 65 mph with no problem. Probably could do them faster if I had the nerve. I also do a lot of technical off road driving. Just got back a couple of weeks ago from Moab where we did the Hell's Revenge and Steel Bender Trails. I was thoroughly impressed with how the suspension performed. The articulation was awesome and thus the traction to climb the obstacles was maximized because all four wheels stayed on the ground. I could not be more pleased with my AEV setup.
